Prerequisites

  • OS: Windows Vista SP1, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2
  • IIS 7+ installed
  • One of the following versions of Visual Studio:
    • Visual Studio 2008
    • Visual Studio 2010
  • TortoiseSVN (if you plan to contribute patches)

Building and debugging the project

  1. If you have SVN then do "SVN Checkout..." at https://phpmanager.svn.codeplex.com/svn . Otherwise just download the source code from the project's source code page.
  2. In order for PHP manager UI module to be registered with IIS Manager you will need to modify the administration.config file located at %WINDIR%\system32\inetsrv\config folder. Open this file and then edit it as described below:
    1. In the section <moduleProviders> add this line (if necessary, replace the version number to match the one you use for the project):
      <add name="PHP" type="Web.Management.PHP.PHPProvider, Web.Management.PHP, Version=1.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=8175de49a9aec91d" />
    2. In the section <modules> add this line
      <add name="PHP" />
  3. Start Visual Studio in an elevated mode ("Run as Administrator"). From Visual Studio open the PHPManager.sln file.
  4. Press "F5" or use "Debug" -> "Start Debugging" menu. That should bring up the IIS Manager where you should see the PHP Manager feature.
